GEORGE LOPEZ to play in FBR/XEROX silver pro-am

PHOENIX, Ariz. – George Lopez – avid golfer, comedian and star of the hit family comedy “George Lopez” – will play in this year’s FBR/Xerox Silver Pro-Am, which tees off at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31, on the TPC Scottsdale’s Stadium Course.  The official host of the PGA TOUR’s Bob Hope Chrysler Classic and a regular at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Lopez will be making his first appearance at the FBR Open.  His tee time has yet to be determined.

“Not only is George an outstanding actor and comedian, he’s a fantastic golfer and a great person,” said FBR Open Tournament Chairman Pat McGinley. “He’s a regular on the celebrity golf circuit and he really knows how to entertain the crowds, so our fans will be in for a treat on Wednesday.”

Lopez is one of the premier comedic talents in the industry today, selling out concert venues from coast-to-coast, and he has crossed over into the acting industry, appearing in television programs and major motion pictures.  He is the co-creator, writer, producer and star of the ABC television series “George Lopez”, and has starred in movies such as “The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl”, “Real Women Have Curves” and “Naughty or Nice.”  In 2005, Lopez was recognized by Time Magazine as one of the Top 25 Most Influential Hispanics in America, and was named a Top 10 Television Personality by the Harris Poll.

The 2007 FBR Open will take place Jan. 29 – Feb. 4 at the TPC Scottsdale.  This year will mark the 72nd playing of the Open, making it one of the five oldest events on the PGA TOUR.  With more than 500,000 spectators each year, the FBR Open is the most attended tournament on the PGA TOUR. For information about the 2007 FBR Open, visit
