Junior Golf Director Sean Ferris Also Promoted to Foundation Director 

            SCOTTSDALE, Arizona (March 10, 2007) – The Southwest Section of the Professional Golfers’ Association of America recently added two new marketing directors to its staff.

                Amanda Copithorne, former Sales and Marketing Executive with KHNL-TV in Honolulu, Hawaii and Steve Biernacki, most recently the Senior Tour Director for the Texas Legends Junior Tour come on board.

                Copithorne, a Business School graduate of Arizona State University also worked internationally for Feld Entertainment, the company that produces shows for Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus and Disney on Ice, among many others. She also gained valuable experience in sports marketing working with the Arizona Diamondbacks. “The SWSPGA is a marvelous organization and I look forward to working with the local golf industry to help bring about new marketing strategies and implementing new programs to gain greater exposure in the marketplace,” said Copithorne.

                Biernacki, a former PJ Boatwright intern for the South Texas Amateur Golf Association spent two years working with the United States Golf Association and two-and-a-half years with the Southern California Golf Association. “Golf in Arizona has long been considered a driving force in tourism and I will help continue its development in the section and continue to grow the SWSPGA in its leadership role in the golf industry,” added Biernacki.

                The Junior Golf Director for the SWSPGA since 2001, Sean Ferris has been a strong advocate for the development of the junior golfer in the state of Arizona. Currently serving a fourth term as President of the Junior Golf Association of Arizona, Ferris was recently promoted to Foundation Director for the Southwest Section – PGA of America. A graduate of Ferris State University in Michigan with a degree in Professional Golf Management, Ferris will continue to oversee the Section’s junior golf program, but will also be responsible for fundraising activities to grow the Foundation and by providing more opportunities for increased involvement with the game of golf. “We continually strive to improve the opportunities for juniors to play the game of golf here in Arizona and Las Vegas,” said Ferris. “Not only are we providing additional outlets for the beginner golfer, but also competitive environments for the more established junior. Eventually, I would like our Section to be recognized as having the premier junior golf program in the country.”
