SOUTHWEST SECTION – PGA OF AMERICA NAMES NEW OPERATIONS COORDINATOR FOR ITS SOUTHERN CHAPTER

 

            SCOTTSDALE, Arizona (April 24, 2007) – Former Assistant Golf Professional at The Gallery Golf Club in Marana, Brent Newcomb has been named the new Operations Coordinator for the Southern Chapter of the Southwest Section of the Professional Golfers’ Association of America.

                While at The Gallery Golf Club, Newcomb was instrumental in helping set up this year’s World Golf Championships - Accenture Match Play Championship, an event won by Henrik Stenson over Geoff Ogilvy.

                “Brent brings a wealth of experience to his new post. A native of Tucson, Brent has been involved with the local golf scene for many years and I’m confident he will continue to build on the current programs already in place, while expanding many others, especially for junior golf,” said Kathy Wilkes, Executive Director of the SWSPGA.

                Prior to his position at The Gallery Golf Club, Newcomb spent four years as an Assistant Golf Pro at Omni Tucson National Golf Club. “I’m truly excited about my new role with the Southern Chapter and look forward to continuing to foster the high level of professionalism that currently exists with the golf industry in the southern part of Arizona,” said Newcomb.
