Former General Manager at Hillcrest GC in Sun City Assumes Post

SCOTTSDALE, Arizona (May 2, 2007) – Norman, Oklahoma is one of the country’s hotbeds for college football and when Eddie Grant passed over playing center for the University of Oklahoma Sooners and opted for the turf at Sun Devil Stadium and a collegiate career at ASU, he knew it was only a matter of time when he would develop a passion for another sport played on grass: golf.

After a three-year stint playing for the NFL’s Detroit Lions, Grant came back to the Valley of the Sun and began working at The Golf Club at Eagle Mountain. After two years in Fountain Hills, Grant moved on to become the Head Golf Professional at Painted Mountain Golf Club where he spent four years before moving on to Hillcrest where he was the Sun City facility’s General Manager. “The SWSPGA Junior Golf program has doubled its level of participation each year over the past 2-3 years. Kid’s passion for the sport continues to grow and I’m so pleased to step into a situation whose success is so profound. I’m eager to keep the levels improving and to continue to make golf fun to play for the beginners and also challenging enough for our more seasoned juniors,” said Grant.

The SWSPGA Junior Golf program oversees @50 tournaments throughout the year through its PING Junior Series events, Antigua Junior Tour, Westfield Junior Championships and the skills development program of the SWSPGA Youth Golf Club.

“Eddie brings an infectious enthusiasm and his love of the game of golf is clearly evident whenever you’re around him. He will make a great addition to our staff and I look forward to working with him on our highly successful junior golf program,” said Kathy Wilkes, Executive Director of the SWSPGA.
