TIJERAS CREEK GOLF CLUB TO HOST 32nd ANNUAL
FUJI XEROX USA VS. JAPAN COLLEGIATE GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP

 
RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CALIFORNIA – The 32nd annual Fuji Xerox USA vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship will be held July 11-13 at the OB Sports-managed, Tijeras Creek Golf Club. The United States leads the all-time series 24-7 and has won 11-straight competitions.
 
Jerry Haas of Wake Forest and Arizona State’s Melissa Luellen will coach the 12-member U.S. team, which consists of eight men and four women. Bronson Burgoon of Texas A&M, UCLA’s Kevin Chappell, Jacqui Concolino of Vanderbilt, Rochester’s Stephen Goodridge, Rob Grube of Stanford, Duke’s Jennie Lee, Chris McCartin of Wake Forest, Oklahoma City’s Daniel Mitchell, Jennifer Osborn of Arizona State, Sonoma State’s Jarin Todd, Alison Walshe of Arizona and Kansas’ Gary Woodland comprise the U.S. squad.
 
First held at Narashino Country Club in Japan, the US-Japan matches have been held annually in cooperation with the Japanese Student Golf Association and the Golf Coaches Association of America.  The matches feature outstanding men’s and women’s collegiate players from the United States and Japan and were founded to help promote international goodwill through the game of golf. Former U.S. players include Curtis Strange, Jay Haas, Peter Jacobsen, Brad Faxon, Juli Inkster, Davis Love III, Steve Stricker, Dottie Pepper, Todd Hamilton, David Toms, Ben Curtis, Bob Tway and Scott Verplank.

Located in Rancho Santa Margarita, just minutes from Orange County’s John Wayne Airport, the Ted Robinson-designed Tijeras Creek Golf Club is the tale of two nines. The distinctive course layout at Tijeras Creek opens with a demanding front nine highlighted with shimmering water features that come into play in four out of the first nine holes. The back nine holes are legendary for their breathtaking scenery, and awe-inspiring elevation changes that wind through old growth sycamores, oaks and native chaparral. In fact, hole number sixteen was voted one of Orange County's Best 18 Holes.
